about

What do you get if you cross classical music with alt-country? It’s a riddle with no punchline because Will George is the man who has brought together these two unlikely bedfellows. The former opera singer brings his impressive vocal range to this five track EP of smart love songs. Opener Through To You is tailor-made for Roger McGuinn to cover and the title track is the genuinely moving tale of love lost. Radio-friendly ballad Blame It On Me is followed by a great addition to the train-song genre The Next Train, but best of all is It Only Hurts Me When I Feel which is destined to spawn a potentially lethal drinking game with lines like ‘Toss another bourbon down’. A glance at the personnel list reveals that this EP shares the producer (Jay Sherman-Godfrey) and several of the musicians who appeared on Laura Cantrell’s ‘Not The Tremblin’ Kind’ album which is a recommendation in itself. about

Horse Opera Vancouver, British Columbia

Horse Opera calls themselves Outlaw Country, but in truth, no genre can contain them - it just means they play whatever they want: rootsy Rock 'n Roll with a dash of soul, a touch of twang, a bit of blues, with punk energy and rockabilly attitude. Their sound has been compared to Blue Rodeo, Chris Isaak and the Mavericks.
